Jubilee Consortium’s mission is to create healthy and just neighborhoods through enrichment opportunities and leadership programs.
In January 2001 the Jubilee Consortium was created by the rectors of a core group of inner city Episcopal parishes in the county of Los Angeles. Recognizing the disparities in the urban, low-income, predominantly minority communities they serve, the member churches of the Jubilee Consortium came together out of a common belief that churches should be able to provide much more for their communities than just a place to worship. These churches understood that through a dedicated, coordinated, collaborative effort, they could work towards effecting more meaningful social change within their communities.
Further expanding on their initial idea to jointly fund raise for existing projects, The Consortium was incorporated as a nonprofit entity for the purpose of developing and implementing innovative programming designed to make a real impact on the long-term future of its underserved communities. This newly formed organization will be responsive to, and informed by, the unique nature of each individual parish. As the Jubilee Consortium grows and matures, the overall impact of urban outreach ministries within the Diocese at large will be strengthened.
